Haydn Recital

Greetings fellow music lovers – a recital by sunny Haydn to sweep Winter away!

Presented by Jane Loewen, soprano, Alison Hanley, trumpet and Anthony Holt, piano in a programme of all Haydn’s music including his Trumpet Concerto (Alison is a former Scholarship Winner), Canzonettas and music for solo piano, including his striking E flat piano sonata!

Saturday afternoon, February 27 at 3.00 p.m. at St Andrew’s-Chalmers Presbyterian Church 40 Toronto Street South in Uxbridge. $15 at the door or at Blue Heron Books- to include Viennese goodies, a favourite of Haydn’s!

Do please keep the afternoon free and come and join us. The recital is a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Book Launch

Annabelle Murray is releasing her second chapbook of poetry, she takes what she needs (Piquant Press), on Sunday, November 22nd at 2 pm at Harlow’s Wine Bar and Grille in Uxbridge. Everyone is invited to a fun afternoon of poetry and prose. Cover is $15 and includes a signed copy of Annabelle’s book. Hosted by James Dewar, guest writers include: Amy Caughlin, Suzanne Crone, Joel Cross, Cynthia Englert, Barb Hunt, Leena Rahusaar, Sue Reynolds, and Collette Yvonne.

Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Uxbridge Chamber Choir presents Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL featuring CBC’s Michael Enright. CBC’s Ted Barris will introduce the performance.

Sunday, December 13th at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church in Uxbridge.

The choir will provide a musical setting for this dramatic reading of Dickens classic tale with Carols of the Season directed by Thomas Baker. PRECIOUS MINDS, a local charity will share the proceeds from this event.

Tickets are available at Blue Heron Books, Brock St. W., and PharmaChoice, 2 Brock St.W., and are $15.00 in advance for adults and at the door will be $20.00.

Tickets are also available by contacting Precious Minds by telephone and tickets may be purchased by paying with Visa or Master Card. Tickets may then be picked up at the door. Precious Minds number is 905-982-0882. The other two locations will be accepting cash or cheque made payable to UXBRIDGE CHAMBER CHOIR.

Uxbridge Music Scholarship Fund Concert

The Uxbridge Music Scholarship Fund Concert will take place at St. Andrew’s Chalmer’s Presbyterian Church at 7:30 pm on Friday, Nov 6, 2009.

Headlining is Michelle Charlton, fiddle champion and Chris Saunders. Josh Watson will perform on the lovely 7 foot concert grand and Kathy Normandeau will be singing an original piece she composed. The Monday Morning Singers are also joining the concert for a short repertoire.
