Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”

Quite a few UAA members are singing in the Uxbridge Chamber Choir’s upcoming production of Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”, which promises to be wonderful. There is a particularly stellar cast of soloists, including a spectacular bass/baritone (Jonathan Liebich), who recently moved to the Uxbridge area from Vancouver, where he sang with the Vancouver Opera. His wife Sasha also sang with the opera there, and takes the main soprano role. Tom Baker, director of the Uxbridge Chamber Choir, calls “Elijah” one of the “big three” oratorios, along with Handel’s “Messiah” and Haydn’s “Creation”. There will be tickets at the door for out-of-towners who can’t get tickets in advance. Do think about coming to support music in Uxbridge and your fellow UAA members.
