‘Treasure Hunt!’
Scavenger Hunt and Geocaching Workshop

Enjoy the museum village and grounds in this fun outdoor program. Participants will play fun scavenger games with maps and directions, learn how to use an outdoor GPS navigator, and participate in a geo-cache hunt around the museum grounds using their new navigation skills. Bring a picnic lunch. Pre-register.

‘Discovering Your Family Tree’ workshop for youth
Dates: June 15 and Oct. 5, 2013

Ages 10-14

Learn all about discovering your family’s history, and how to create a family tree. Participants will use their discoveries to create an artistic family tree collage on canvas to bring home. Bring a picnic lunch. Pre-register.

Great Inventions: The Printing Press!

The printing press was one of the most important inventions in human history! Learn in the museum’s operating print shop how printing was done in Uxbridge in the past, and how newspapers were produced. Kids will also get to make their own newspaper column and picture stamp. Bring a picnic lunch. Pre-register.

‘Beads and Buttons’ craft workshop

Kids will use colourful beads and buttons to create fantastic decorative items, including a button flower bouquet, jewelry box, door monogram, bookmark, and jewellery. Bring a picnic lunch. Pre-register.

Settler for a Day

Become a settler for the day at the Museum Village! Learn how to churn butter, make cookies, do “chores”, plant seeds to take home and grow into a garden, play fun pioneer games, and more! Kids can come dressed in their favourite pioneer outfit, or choose one from the Museum’s costumes to wear for the day. Bring a picnic lunch. Pre-register.

Victorian Paper Crafts
Dates: Sept. 21, 2013

Learn all about and create fascinating paper crafts and projects from the beautiful Victorian era, including paper silhouettes, greeting cards, a decoupage box, and more. Bring a picnic lunch. Preregister. Join us at Uxbridge Historical Centre for these fun Saturday programs! Please pre-register your child by calling us at (905)852-5854. Each program will take a minimum of 6 and maximum of 15 participants, so please register early to prevent disappointment.
