Thursday, Sept. 11, 1 to 3pm – Nurses of WW1 Presentation with author and historian Sher Leetooze. Uxbridge Historical Centre hosts a special presentation by author and historian Sherrell Leetooze with her fascinating new book ‘WW1 Nursing Sisters of Old Durham County’. For this presentation Ms. Leetooze will present her research on WW1 nurses from Uxbridge and other Ontario County communities. The author of over a dozen books on history and natural history, Sherrell’s historical knowledge and storytelling skills are bound to keep you entertained. Sunday, Sept. 21, 1:30 to 4pm – Victorian Fashion Show and Tea with historian Nancy MacLeod at the Uxbridge Seniors’ Centre, 75 Marietta Street, Uxbridge. Fundraiser for Uxbridge Historical Centre. Historian Nancy MacLeod has taken her Victorian Fashion Show all over southern Ontario and now she is bringing this popular show to Uxbridge. Victorian fashion and tradition come to life in this highly entertaining and historically accurate show that offers a fascinating look at Victorian clothing and life from the ‘Gone with the Wind’ era. Everything from the underwear on up will be modelled by members of the community.
Tea sampling, sweets and treats, door prizes and much more. Tickets $25/person available at the Uxbridge Historical Centre, 7239 Concession Rd. 6, Uxbridge.
Saturday, Sept. 27, 8:30 to 5pm – Plein Air Experience, a FREE Culture Days event at Uxbridge Historical Centre, 7239 Concession Rd. 6, Uxbridge. Calling all Artists and Artists-at-Heart ! Dust off your paints and brushes and experience creating art “En Plein Air” (outdoors). Participants can work at the scenic Uxbridge Historical Centre, or other outdoor locations around beautiful Uxbridge, the Trail Capital of Canada! In the afternoon, participants will showcase their art and enjoy a talk by a guest speaker.
