Writers’ Circle of Durham Region
Durham Region is home to a vibrant community of freelance writers, authors, poets, playwrights and journalists. Several hundred of us belong to the Writers’ Circle of Durham Region. Our one-of-a-kind organization actively supports experienced and developing writers through monthly breakfast meetings, workshops and other events.
Close to a hundred talented writers gather on the second Saturday of the month to enjoy an industry speaker or a special event, and to network with other creative people at our breakfast meetings. These meetings also provide an opportunity to meet the notable speakers we bring in. For example, in March, we have booked Robert J. Sawyer, Canada’s czar of science-fiction. In April, it’s Nicholas Boothman, best-selling author of How to Make Someone Like You in 90 Seconds or Less. May brings a panel discussion with an agent, small press publisher and Shelley MacBeth of Uxbridge’s Blue Heron Books.
